Do you need help paying your electric bill? There are programs and resources available to assist you such as the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the Dollar Energy Fund, the Customer Assistance Program (CAP), DLC’s payment arrangement tool and the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).
LIHEAP Cash Grant (10/18/2021 – 5/06/2022)
LIHEAP offers one cash grant, up to $1,500 per heating season, to help pay energy costs associated with home heating bills. LIHEAP is a federal program operated in Pennsylvania by the Department of Human Services (DHS) with applications submitted online using COMPASS. Eligible customers don’t have to pay the money back, and the cash grant will be applied as a credit to the bill. For more information, visit our website. ACT QUICKLY before funds expire.
LIHEAP Crisis Grant (10/18/2021 – 5/06/2022)
If you receive a LIHEAP cash grant and still need more help, the LIHEAP Crisis Program may be able to assist. Households in jeopardy of losing heat due to an emergency situation can receive up to an additional $1,200. Emergency situations include broken heating equipment or leaking lines; lack of fuel; less than a 15-day supply of fuel; or a notice of service termination within the next 60 days.
Dollar Energy Fund (Open Now)
More help is available from the Dollar Energy Fund for those who meet income guidelines. Limited-income households can receive up to a $500 grant that can be used to maintain or restore electric service.
Customer Assistance Program
DLC’s Customer Assistance Program (CAP) offers an affordable payment plan for low-income customers who have difficulty paying their monthly bill. The plan helps eligible households maintain electric service by providing a reduced monthly payment and debt forgiveness. Customers enrolled in CAP can also apply for LIHEAP and Dollar Energy Fund grants. Visit our CAP page or call our Universal Services Center toll-free at 1-888-393-7600.
Flexible Payment Arrangements
The online payment arrangement tool is designed to spread unpaid account balances across manageable monthly installments that are billed with current monthly charges. The process is broken out into five easy steps, giving you the option to make an up-front payment, calculate monthly installments and determine how long it will take to pay off unpaid balances.
